So I've been having this idea for a while now, and I'd like to know what you guys think...
Were-dragons. People who were born human, but after accidentally "bonding" with a artifact/catalyst are able to change into an elemental dragon at will (The four elements being Wind, earth, fire, and water). Specialized variants are possible (see my dragon type below) and there may be more pros than cons... all depends on the person's attitude
So my question is... What dragon would you guys change to? And what would be your artifact/catalyst?
For me:
Dragon: Storm (wind Variant), Black with red trim
Artifact: Lodestone Pendant shaped like a dragon
-
Mood:
Satisfied -
Listening to: AC/DC
-
Reading: MOAR DA
-
Playing: Sins of a Solar Empire demo
-
Drinking: Yep... it's a frozen water bottle.
Chaz (Dangit, I HAD a last name for him and it was really cool too...)
Dragon: Earth (Including metals, crystals, Etc.), purple with silver markings
Artifact: silver gauntlets, bonded to back of hand & wrist. Change catalyst: intent or necessity. Unusual control over shifting and magic abilities in both forms.
Y'know, I've been thinking about this all day...What would life be like for Chaz and Zack in school? Particularly vs. bullies...More on that when I'm online later this evening.
Also, I think that elemental magic should be able to be charged by coming into contact with that element; magic is depleted from that given source for a while, but eventually recharges from the natural flow of the universe. (Can't use the same hunk of rock to recharge over and over, unless you wait a day or two between charging). In addition, using elemental magic to manipulate the element drains the magic from it. (Lift a rock and you can't recharge from it later).
Either that or magic is recharged by being "you"--so if you're a poet, you love writing poems, that's where your "flow" recharges from best. (Plus the idea of a dragon writing poems to unleash epic insane awesome magic is just NEAT)
We could go with a combination of these two systems--recharge from element and also from "self".
If recharging from Self Flow works, I think Chaz would draw energy from acting and goofing around, particularly outdoors. (Which is why he's such a natural actor when it comes to convincing people that Zack is an animatronic dragon for an upcoming movie that's being filmed on location...)
Good idea, bad, doomful, or fun? (Keep in mind that overlap between two or more of these areas is completely possible)
